Noblesse Story – From Luxury Furniture to a Cultural Landmark in Bucharest

In an exclusive interview to Romania Journal, Mrs. Loredana Preda shared the inward significance of her business, from the very beginning to the present, when a beautiful luxury design story evolved into a growing enterprise comprising four brands, all increasingly revolving around the concept of cultural value.

How much passion Mrs. Preda and her team invest in every Noblesse Group project is evident in their achievements: an exquisite historical monument building that now hosts Noblesse Galleries and the STUDIO INSIGN interior design offices; the high prestige of the luxury design showroom; and the wide array of cultural events held under the Noblesse patronage.

Find out what is the story behind Noblesse Palace and discover the secret of a visionary business, one that blends history, design, and culture into a unique Romanian brand identity.

How Noblesse Began

As Mrs. Preda recounted to Romania Journal, the Noblesse journey started with a solid foundation in the luxury furniture industry. After nearly a decade in top management roles at a French company producing high-end furniture in Romania for export, she and her husband decided to embark on their own business venture.

In 2007, the first Noblesse showroom opened in Bacău, followed by another in Bucharest in 2008. From the start, the mission was to serve Romania’s luxury segment with premium furniture and complete interior design services, going beyond products to deliver an entire lifestyle concept.

Thriving During the Crisis

When the 2009 global financial crisis challenged businesses worldwide, Noblesse chose to expand instead of scale back. This decision led to the creation of Studio Insign, a top-tier design brand, and the diversification of the Noblesse Galleries portfolio to include textiles, tapestry, plywood, and indoor sanitation, essentially everything needed for a complete interior project.

The company also moved into public space design, taking on projects for offices, hotels, restaurants, cafés, and retail environments. As highlighted by Romania Journal, this period became a time of growth and client base expansion, defying the downturn.

The Historical Building – A Love at First Sight

In search of a location that could embody her vision, Mrs. Preda found a historical monument building in Bucharest, the very first she visited and knew instantly it was the right choice. Built in 1881 by renowned Romanian architect Alexandru Săvulescu, the property featured high ceilings, spacious rooms, and authentic architectural details.

It had served as the residence of banker Leonid Berkovitz, hosted elegant gatherings until 1945, and later became a children’s activity center during the communist era, a period that surprisingly preserved many original elements.

Purchased in December 2012 and restored from March 2013 with a €1.5 million investment, the building became Noblesse Palace, more than a showroom, a living design centre and a benchmark for historical restoration in Romania.

From Showroom to Cultural and Event Hub

In 2014, Noblesse inaugurated its ground-floor showroom, a space that Romania Journal described as a true “design circuit,” with rooms styled from classic British to French art deco and eclectic modern interiors. The underground level, with its exposed brickwork and tall ceilings, was transformed into an exclusive events venue hosting corporate gatherings, luxury private events, product launches, fashion shows, and high-profile photo shoots for magazines and luxury brands.

As highlighted in Romania Journal, two new initiatives, the Noblesse Palace Art Centre and the Noblesse Cultural Association, were launched to promote culture through Belle Époque soirées, interwar parties, concerts, theatre plays, and prestigious art exhibitions featuring Matisse, Dali, Picasso, and leading Romanian artists.

A Prestigious Clientele

The Noblesse client base consists of middle and top management professionals, entrepreneurs, and international investors, people who value expertise, refined aesthetics, and turnkey project delivery. An impressive 40–50% client return rate speaks volumes about satisfaction and trust.

With products sourced from Spain, Italy, France, Great Britain, and the Netherlands, Noblesse competes with major European luxury furniture producers and continues to grow its presence abroad.

Vision for the Future

As Romania Journal underlines, the heart of Noblesse’s success is vision and courage, the ability to adapt, take risks, and turn ideas into reality. From its first showroom in Bacău to the 1,200 m² Noblesse Palace with a 1,000 m² garden in central Bucharest, the brand stands as a symbol of Romania’s luxury design and cultural scene, a place where history, art, and business come together.
